16 May Clive Conway becomes Patron of Vauxhall City Farm
One of London’s oldest city farms, Vauxhall, has welcomed Clive Conway as its new Patron.
In addition to his new role, Clive is also chair of social wellbeing charity, the Desmond Tutu Foundation UK, and chief executive of Clive Conway Productions which hosts the successful ‘An audience with’ theatre series offering talks by household names in show business, current affairs, sport and politics.
Started in 1977 by locals looking to create a community space, the city farm is still going strong today and describes itself as ‘providing an oasis of social integration and harmony in a turbulent world.’
Covering just under two acres Vauxhall City Farm is home to a collection of rabbits, ducks, turkeys, chickens, goats, sheep, alpacas, Kunekune pigs, horses, ferrets and guinea pigs, a café and workshop.
“Clive joins the charity as it prepares for the next phase of its mission to serve the needs of local inner-city communities,” explains Faith Boardman, Chair of Trustees of Vauxhall City Farm.
“While Vauxhall City Farm has developed enormously over the last decade,” she adds, “2019 will be a year of change and challenge as we work to secure the funding needed to assure our future.
“We are enormously lucky to have brought Clive on board and are looking forward to making the most of his expertise in charity leadership and contacts in entertainment and industry.“
Clive comments: “I’m delighted to become a Patron of Vauxhall City Farm. This is an incredibly important initiative which provides a haven of relaxation for the local community.
“There’s no better way to deal with the stresses of modern life than being in the company of these delightful animals. We’re very keen that more young people, families and anyone who’s perhaps struggling with the pressures of life know about this facility and make use of it to bring joy to their lives.
“We’ll also be looking for local businesses to take advantage of partnership opportunities to help secure its future and enable us to expand upon our current facilities.”
