Professor Simon Jarvis has been announced as Regent’s University London’s new Deputy Vice Chancellor.
Regent’s University London has announced Professor Simon Jarvis will become its new Deputy Vice Chancellor from 1 January 2015.
Responsible for developing Regent’s position as the UK’s leading private, not-for-profit university, he will also strengthen international recruitment, research, and plans for achieving Research Degree Awarding Powers.
Professor Jarvis, currently Deputy Vice Chancellor at The University of Greenwich, said:
“Higher Education is changing rapidly worldwide and there is a growing diversity of quality providers in the UK. Regent’s is valued as the model for excellence in the alternative sector.
“I look forward to joining an energetic and visionary team who are willing and able to deliver first class and relevant programmes to the international market.”
Regent’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Aldwyn Cooper, added:
“I need somebody who is innovative, committed and can contribute new thinking and manage Regent’s when I am absent on national and international higher education business. We have
taken some time to find the right candidate and I believe Simon will work well here with the team.”
Ian Mehrtens, Chair of the Trustees’ Board at Regent’s University London, said:
“We have sought a DVC who understands Regent’s mission and approach, and will continue our development as the leading private, non-state funded, charitable university in the UK.”
