Burning ambition for PR

More Fire PR rose from the ashes in June 2012 with the aim of helping businesses and organisations connect with their customers and other audiences that matter to them.

We aim to ‘tell the truth persuasively’ and in doing so work closely with our clients to develop news and communication activities that are genuinely interesting and engaging, not mere sales puffery.

Founder Mark Ferguson explains:

“There are very few organisations that don’t need to communicate effectively in some shape or form. Think it through, who are your audiences and what do you need to say to them? How do you capture and hold their attention effectively? How do you want them to react to the detail you provide? How do you maintain credibility?

“Whether you work in plastics production or space exploration, no one wants to be bored, so try to be objective and consider carefully what’s newsworthy about your…. news? Here’s a handy check-list to consider before you press ‘send’ on that all important story:

  • Is it new?
  • Is it topical, quirky or unique?
  • Have you included the essential facts – who, what, why, where, when?
  • Have you offered interesting quotes or spokespeople, interview or photo opportunities?
  • Are you targeting the right media or stakeholders?
  • Have you made time to be immediately available to answer any further questions?

“This isn’t an exhaustive list, but it gives an indication of the thought and effort that ideally goes into helping your business or organisation make the right connections. Not considering these points can waste valuable time and energy and doing the opposite will certainly fill a space, but will anyone listen?
